Promoting exciting artists from around the world

Michelle Terry - Sydney, Australia

Daydreamer, The Sleepy Tree & Devon

I am originally from Shropshire in the Uk. I trained at art school for a year after college and completed a Foundation course in Art and Design, specifying in Fashion Illustration. I then decided to go it alone rather than going on to further study and have been traveling and re locating for the last three years whilst working on my portfolio. I moved to Australia in August to be with my partner, and now live in Sydney where I work part time in retail and use my free time to pursue a career in free lance illustration. I am extremely blessed to have very creative parents and siblings who all inspire me and nuture my own creativity. My parents met at Art College and both went in to graphic design and illustration so I have been surrounded by art my whole life.

My work often focuses on the Seductive nature of our minds and how we can get lost in fantasies and day dreams. I am particularly interested in Fashion images as the very nature of fashion is to seduce and entice us, pulling us in to this world of perfection, excess and “must haves”, a world we strongly believe to be real and grasp at. Most of my work features explosions of colour, dripping and trippy line work often referencing the hallucinatory nature of our minds and of our world. I am very interested in the fine line between fantasy and reality, dreaming and waking and I try to explore this in my work. My favorite mediums to work in are water colours, coloured pencil, biro and fine liner pens.

Boyan - I like the colours in this work. They calm and shape the energy of each piece very nicely. It means the images are alive and vibrant but not excessive or gaudy at the same time.
