I’m OK, Self-Portrait & The Only One Of Its Kind
Dita - I am based out of southern California.
Though I am a self-taught painter as of approximately four years ago, I obtained my BA with a concentration in art from CSU Channel Islands.
I enjoy working on abstract canvases, such as mannequins. I find they add a great deal of intensity to my work. I am fascinated with the female figure and how it is seen in the world. I take pleasure in playing with the idea of femininity and the role of beauty.
Boyan - I like this work because it has achieved the right balance - Dita is using an unusual canvas in the form of the mannequins and the art which is created on them is of just the right level of complexity to complement the canvas. Hope that makes sense. The two end up merging together to create a well-fulfilled vision. I personally like the 1st two more because they don’t acknowledge what the canvas is and it keeps it more abstract in that way.
